SECURITY
As researchers and developers of SEPTRE, we recognise the importance of ensuring that your protocol and contact information are stored securely. SEPTRE restricts access to accounts through user authentication and passwords that are individually salted, hashed, encrypted, and stored on the server. Upon account registration, SEPTRE administrators will provide you with an initial password that you should change to one of your choosing. We will not be able to track when you have changed your password, nor identify your new password.
SEPTRE uses industry-level SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption to protect the transmission of passwords and protocol content from your computer to the server. This is the same level of security used by financial institutions.
Your protocol content is encrypted and stored on Linode servers. Linode is a commercial, solid state drive, cloud server platform that uses multi-layered physical, technological, and human security measures to ensure secure data storage. Linode is compliant with the PCI Data Security Standard, U.S. Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, EU General Data Protection Regulation, and EU-US and Swiss-US Privacy Shields.
